Everything in the universe runs on laws and rules. We violate them at our own peril. Unfortunately, many of these laws and rules are unknown to us, until we find ourselves in trouble. Then, we know that we have violated a rule, but we may still find ourselves without a clue on what the rule was!
Marriage is no different. There are rules and laws that govern the marriage relationship. But they have remained largely unknown. . . until now. Sure, there have been experts that have found better ways of relating, but we are still in a society where almost half of marriages will fail.
We are in the midst of more information and more help, and yet the divorce rate remains the same. That should be telling us something. We are failing to stop the real issue at hand.
The real issue is not better communication. It is not perfecting the marriage. It is not building a marriage free from conflict. And most of all, it is not about our mate changing to make us happy!
